I personally like to improve my tone and speed, but every guitar part is different.  Some guitars sound great for lead solos, whereas others are better suited for rhythm guitar.  The types and brands of pickups are a key controller for how good you play and sound so keep that in mind.

Jimmy Page knocked my socks off in 1975 and continues to provide quite a show everywhere he plays.  Although Led Zeppelin have long since not been an item, there are so many opportunities for page to display his wonder on the axe and yes I love hear it.
